We’re surrounded by the ocean, so it only makes sense that we would have requests for ocean-themed cakes!

Check out this Beach Themed cake we did a few months ago for Chance and Weenie:

There are so many details that we loved putting into this cake!  First of all, it was our first time doing a textured base (instead of our classic smooth surface).  I really wanted to make something that emulated the waves of the ocean, and to show the contrast between the ocean and the sand:

Next was the use of our biscuits to add a 3D element to the cake.  We have done this before on a couple of other cakes, and I really like the way it adds some dimension.

In the top right corner is also a sun shaped biscuit that I frosted with orange and yellow cream cheese.  You might also notice behind the sun, I tried a new technique of blending the blue for the sky into the tan of the sand.  You can’t see it too much, but I thought it was really lovely, and I’m looking forward to exploring that technique more in future cakes.

We just loved this cake!  And we’re pretty sure Chance and Weenie (and their Mom!) loved it too, look at those faces!
